How to Install Recut
If you've already downloaded Recut the next step is to install it.
The process is pretty similar to most other apps so if you're a veteran at this stuff, feel free to skip this.
Install on Mac
Recut runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1+) Macs. The file you download will work on either (that's what the "universal" in the filename means).
To install on a Mac computer:
- Open the .dmg file that you downloaded. It's probably in your Downloads folder and named something like `Recut_1.2.3_universal.dmg`.
- A window will appear with 2 icons: Recut, and Applications.
- Drag Recut to the Applications folder.
- At this point you can Eject the .dmg file by pressing Cmd+E on your keyboard while the window is focused, and then drag the .dmg file to the trash.
With that all done, Recut is now inside your Applications folder, and you can get to it by opening any Finder window and clicking Applications on the side.
Note that it is NOT recommended to run Recut directly from the .dmg window. It will probably appear to work at first, but you can run into very strange errors, especially if an update is available. So please do drag it to your Applications folder before running it (or any other folder if you prefer!).
Install on Windows
Recut comes as a .msi installer. It's probably located in your Downloads folder.
Double-click the .msi file to start the installer, and follow the prompts.
The first thing you'll probably see is Windows asking if you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer (aka install the app), mentioning the developer is Tiny Wins LLC (that's us!). Say Yes to that, and then click through the installer.
After it's done, you should be able to find Recut in your Start menu, and click it to launch the program.
